An artist based in the beautiful Dark Peak of Derbyshire, UK
Jo Kisby is an artist living and painting in the High Peak town of Glossop. She gained an honours in Fine Art at De Montfort University way back in 1992. For many years whilst working as a physiotherapist, Jo continued to paint and sketch as a hobby, but over the past three years has returned to painting professionally.
Jo prefers to work in oils or charcoal, creating mainly portraits and figurative works that encapsulate the magic in the every day.
Inspired by her physio work, Jo has a particular interest in the human form, principally human movement and the way individuals interact with each other and their environment, capturing the fleeting moment between a pause and action. As a mum of young children Jo has been significantly influenced by the the daily experiences of women and their infants. Observing the multitasking art of breast feeding inspired her to create a series of sketches around this subject, which she plans one day to develop into a series of paintings.
She is always on the look out for opportunities to use her art to reflect and celebrate the world she sees around her.
